Additionally your options as a consumer are going up daily. An internet connection alone gives you more options for things to watch, read and listen to than you would have if you had cable and satellite television, plus a satellite radio subscription and a library card.
The links below are not simply sites I like but links to help you make the most of your opportunities as a content producer and consumer. I'm only getting this started and will add to it as I have time.
Because, here in Canada there is concern about the availability of Canadian content online extra emphasis has been placed on Canadian stuff.

- Web Series Today - There are a great many 'web series', which is sort of like television but is only available online. This is a blog about some of them.

- All Streaming Media (audio) has information on a variety of free and low cost software that will allow you to listen to, record and save online radio and other audio content as well as tutorials and links

- AnchorFree.com offers a free Virtual Private Network called Hotspot Shield that allows you to access geo-blocked content (that means that you can watch sites like hulu.com from outside the U.S.)

- CreativeCommons.org - An alternative to copyright creative commons allows content creators to decide for themselves what rights they want to make available for their work, it also has a search engine that will let you look for Creative Commons licensed work.
- An article on remaining anonymous online and here's another one. Anonymizer is a free tool that will help you (it costs $80), the cloak is another one (it has free and pay options) and thefreecountry.com has more tutorials and links.
- How to watch internet video on your TV - there are many other tutorials online showing you a variety of ways to do it. If this one doesn't work for you keep searching. There is also a quick video tutorial here and another one here.
- Clipnabber allows you to easy download video from YouTube, Daily Motion, Vimeo and other online video sites.
- Stream Capture another site that catalogues audio and video stream capture software.
- whatisrss.com - if you're going to read online news and blogs you should really be using a feed reader and RSS/Atom - it will automatically deliver the things you are interested in to you and let you know when there is anything new. There is also a nice short video introduction here.
- Miro is an online video player and aggregator that will allow you to watch downloaded or streaming online video, subscribe to feeds and much more. It requires an Intel processor (PC or Mac) if you don't have one you should at least download VLC Player which plays a wide variety of video formats.
