It's just a thought, I've never organized any live event on this scale and the scale is huge but can we have a party? The party would be for those arrested and detained at the G20, including the people kettled at Queen and Spadina.
This would be a scary thought for some in Toronto - the people who only know the burning police car loop, but I've met and talked to many of the people we're talking about and none of them seem the least bit dangerous to me. At the moment I'm under the impression that the police didn't get any of the people who did any damage downtown unless it was by pure chance and that there won't be a single conviction that requires anything more than a small fine.
That is kind of the point. If people, whoever they are, whatever they think about the weekend, want to come out and meet some of the folks that were beaten and arrested in a completely non-threatening setting and think again about what happened all the better.
I envision a big party, with music and fun - no politics, no negativity, no anger, no speeches - except maybe just one. Someone to speak for us and apologize to them on behalf of the people of Toronto, obviously not the City Inc., but the people who live here.
Beyond that just an afternoon or evening to take away some of the pain and anger and let them know that the people they share the city with still love them - whatever the outcome of inquiries and law suits. Again no politics, no hate, no slogans - we can continue all of that the day after.
Thoughts anyone? (Help anyone?)

Great idea!
I am not in Toronto, but as an experienced event organizer I would be happy to help in any supportive role you need.
Let me know!
LOL - We do this sort of thing all the time and know others who do as well.
I wonder about numbers and venue.
I'll send you a note with a phone number.
I would if I knew how to get hold of you...?
